The film explores the close connections that audiences have made with the legendary filmmaker by watching his films. It also draws attention to Kubrick's art of mastering visual aesthetics and dealing with thought-provoking themes. The film was commissioned by Channel 4 in association with World of Wonder Productions for the 3 Minute Wonder shorts strand.

As seen on UK television. The film Kubrick premiered as part of the Stanley Kubrick season on More4 on July 16, 2008. It was shown on Channel 4 on July 17 and July 25.
